Jatiya Party (JP) Secretary General Mashiur Rahaman Ranga has apologised to the family of Noor Hossain for slandering the martyr of pro-democracy movement.
“I apologise to Noor Hossain’s mother, who has been hurt by my heedless remarks,” he said while speaking to the media on Tuesday (Nov 12) at the party chief's Banani offices in the capital. “I hope there is no more misunderstanding.”
Claiming Ershad had sympathy for Noor Hossain’s family, the JP secretary general said, “At events remembering Noor Hossain, speakers tend to humiliate our party's founder HM Ershad, which sparked rage within the party and led me to come up with such remarks.”
“As my remarks hurt Noor’s family, I am sincerely apologising to them,” he added.
Addressing a party event on Sunday (Nov 10), Ranga said Noor Hossain "was drug addict, hooked on yaba and phensedyl."
