Lack of planning behind power distribution crisis: MinisterLack of timely and proper plans are the reasons behind the crisis in power distribution, says State Minister for Power Nasrul Hamid .
“The government has many successes in power sector but all go in vein if load-shedding hits for a moment,” he said on Saturday (Jul 21).
Speaking at a general managers’ conference of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) in the city, the minister instructed the people concerned to ensure the uninterrupted power supply.
Hamid also expressed his satisfaction over the REB’s performance.
Speaking at the progamme, REB officials said that the power distribution company has brought 58 percent of the country’s Upazilas under 100-percent electrification facility with 70 more Upazilas to be covered by December.
The REB is now working at another 150 Upazila to ensure 100-percent.
Four million people across Bangladesh are yet to be brought under electricity coverage, according to REB officials.
