Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal speaks a programme. File PhotoEveryone knows that without the call from administration, police do not enter the campus and if BUET administration had been careful, the death of Abrar could have been averted, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan.
Hopefully, they will be more vigilant about student welfare in the future, he said.
The minister made the remarks on Friday (Oct 11) while talking to the media after inaugurating the main gate of the Bangladesh University of Textiles.
“We have identified everyone linked to the killing and have arrested 17 persons; already, 164 persons have given statements; the charge sheet of the murder will be given swiftly and, hopefully, the investigation agency will complete the case in a short time.”
The minister added that investigation is underway to find the motive of the killing.
All those who were linked to the killing are meritorious and so we want to give a flawless charge sheet after detecting the main cause for the brutal act, he assured.
On Oct 6 night, Abrar Fahad was beaten to death by Chhatra League activists and on Oct 7, a case was lodged against 19 persons with Detective Branch getting the duty of investigation. So far, 17 persons have been arrested and a drive is on to arrest the rest.
