‘Bangladesh will continue to treat Rohingyas humanely’

His remarks came at a programme on ‘SDGs and Bangladesh’ in Dhaka on Thursday, just prior to taking part in the UN General Assembly.
“We continue to remain humane to Rohingyas. The prime minister is committed (on this),” he said.
“In today’s world we are an exception except for Germany in terms of hosting refugees,” he added.
We may be in a difficult situation, but when it comes to showing humanity we are never behind, the foreign secretary said at the SDG event.

“We want growth with equality and more job opportunities,” he added.
Principal SDG Coordinator Md Abul Kalam Azad said there is a resource gap to fund the SDG implementation.
“We identified skill development as a key to fill up the gap,” he said.
The skilled youth can be employed in the special economic zones and go abroad and send remittance to the country, he said.
Centre for Policy Dialogue Distinguish Fellow Mustafizur Rahman said social inclusiveness is crucial in implementing SDGs.
“We have tolerable consumption inequality but wealth inequality is extremely high,” he pointed out.
Maritime Affairs Unit Secretary Md Khurshed Alam said when any problem occurs related to migration, everybody tends to blame the destination countries like Bangladesh.
“But, there is no report or investigation why a lady tortured or came back home with an empty hand from the destination countries,” he said.
