Security to be beefed-up for Duraga Puja

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan KamalAs many 350,000 law enforcers will be deployed at the 31,000 puja mandaps across the country during the biggest Hindu festival Durga Puja, said Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
He made the announcement while briefing the media on the upcoming festival at the secretariat on Wednesday (Sept 18).
The minister said that all the law enforcers including Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Ansar will be guarding the mandaps.
“Moreover CCTV cameras, archways and metal detectors will be installed and the intelligence agencies will be on the alert,” he said.
The home minister said that law enforcers will be alert against eve-teasers and power supply will remain stable throughout the festivity. “The emergency 999 will be more active and the services can be availed in case of any problems.”
Saying that maximum security will be ensured during the immersion of idols, he added that everything will be done to make sure that the Hindus are able to enjoy the festivities to the fullest.
On the Rohingyas being able to get Bangladeshi passports through police aid, he said that those involved with it are being arrested and anyone involved with any irregularities won’t be spared.
