The government has appointed a civil aviation and tourism additional secretary as the chief of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Additional Secretary Mokabbir Hossain has been appointed as the managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) for the national flag carrier, a public administration ministry gazette said on Thursday (Sept 12).
Former Biman chief AM Mosaddek Ahmed was withdrawn from his post on Apr 30 of this year. Since then Director (flight operations) Farhat Hossain has been filling in as the acting managing director and CEO.
On Mar 12, a circular was published for the appointment of managing director, CEO and deputy managing director for Biman. After six months of not finding a suitable candidate, the board decided to appoint a public servant for the job.
“None of the applicants, local or foreigner were found capable for the job. According to the board of directors’ decision, the public administration ministry ordered the appointment of Additional Secretary Md Mokabbir Hossain,” civil aviation and tourism Secretary Md Mohibul Haque.
