Mosaic with the flag during Bangladesh Liberation WarThe home ministry has started listing the name of the collaborators who received payment from the Pakistan government during the Liberation War in 1971.
The enlistment of collaborators or ‘Razakars’ follows the letter issued by the Liberation War Affairs ministry earlier this year, said Shajahan Khan, chairman of the ministry’s parliamentary standing committee.
The issue was revealed on Sunday (Aug 26) during the liberation war ministry’s Parliamentary committee meeting.
Briefing the media after the meeting, Khan said, “Letters have been sent to the deputy commissioners (DCs).
“The DC has been told to prepare the Rajakar’s list using their respective district’s archive and publish it in the gazette,” he added.
Asked when the list would be prepared, he said it “depends on the DCs.”
Earlier in May, the House panel said Demi-Official (DO) letter had been sent to the home ministry and deputy commissioners to archive the list of Razakars, Al Badr, Al-Shams and the anti-liberation forces.
The committee also recommended including those members in the list who were given the parliamentary seats of the elected Awami League leaders in 1970.
