The masterminds who had orchestrated the killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be brought to justice like the killers, says Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Huq.
The minister came up with the remarks at a discussion held on the occasion of National Mourning Day at the National Press Club in the capital on Friday (Aug 23).
Mozammel said that it was time to bring the planners of Bangabandhu’s assassination to book now that the killers had been convicted.
Ziaur Rahman had been involved in the assassination of Bangabandhu and had he not been so, he would have not have appointed the self-confessed killers of Bangabandhu to high-ranking posts, added the minister.
He said that Ziaur Rahman had stopped the trial of the killers by imposing an indemnity ordinance and allowed Jamaat-e-Islam to do politics in the country.
The minister later announced that a final list of containing the names of all freedom fighters in the country would be published on Dec 16 this year.
Every insolvent freedom fighter will be given a government grant of Tk 1.5 million to build their own houses, he said, adding that a proposal in this regard has already been passed by the ministry.
These freedom fighters will be issued identity cards that would list the benefits they would avail.
