A group of Dhaka University (DU) students have locked the gates of several administrative and academic buildings, demanding an end to the university's affiliation with seven colleges.
The main gates of the registrar building, arts building, business faculty, Institute of Modern Languages, Institute of Education and Research and social science buildings have remained locked since Sunday (Jul 21) morning.
Agitating students also boycotted classes and examinations as a part of their protests.
A group of Dhaka University students have been demonstrating on campus since Jul 16, demanding the decision of affiliating seven colleges under the institution to be annulled.
DU Proctor Professor Dr Golam Rabbani said, “This issues should be dealt through dialogue, the protesting students aren't paying any heed to us. We are always up for logical solution of the problem."
Some of their other demands are: publishing all the academic result within two months; automating certain administrative and academic activities; controlling external vehicles and fixing rickshaw rent inside the university.
