No Bangladeshi killed in Turkey road crash: Embassy

On Thursday (Jul 18), a minibus carrying a group of illegal migrants went off the road and rolled into a ditch in the Turkish eastern bordering province of Van killing at least 17 people and wounding 50 others.Bangladesh mission in Ankara has said no Bangladeshis are among the victims of the road crash in Turkey that killed at least 17 people and wounded 50 others.
On Thursday(Jul 18), a minibus carrying a group of illegal migrants went off the road and rolled into a ditch in the Turkish eastern bordering province of Van leaving the casualties.
Following the incident, French news agency, AFP reported several Bangladeshis were feared to be amongst the dead.
"Turkish authorities found no Bangladeshis among the 17 dead [in the crash]," Bangladesh's acting ambassador in Turkey Md Rais Hasan Sarower told Bangla Tribune quoting immigration officials from Van province.
"As many as 16 people are Afghan nationals among the 17 deceased," said Sarower before adding no Bangladeshis, too, are among the 50 people wounded in the crash.
Over a million migrants and refugees, many fleeing conflicts and poverty in the Middle East and Africa, cross Turkey en route to the Europe.
