A human chain and protest was organized by ‘National Committee for implementation of 3-day government holiday during Durga Puja’ in front of National Press Club in Dhaka at 11am on Friday (June 29).An alliance of Hindu community has demanded three days government holiday during Durga Puja.
A human chain and protest was organized by ‘National Committee for implementation of 3-day government holiday during Durga Puja’ in front of National Press Club in Dhaka at 11am on Friday (June 29) where the speakers came up with the demand.
The alliance president Dr Pravash Chandra Roy said, “For long we have been demanding for three-day government holiday during Durga Puja but the government remains silent.”
“We hope that the government will meet our demands this time”, he added.
Dr Roy said, “Durga Puja is the biggest religious festival of Hindu Community and it observes for five days. So, it is a rational demand to the government.”
Among others, Bangladesh Hindu Mahajot executive secretary and convener Palash Kanti Dey and Bangladesh Hindu Parishad President Dipankar Sikdar Dipu, General Secretary Swajan Mishra, President of National Hindu Samaj Reform Samiti Professor Nirendranath Biswas, President of Saradanjoli Forum Ratan Chandra Paul addressed the programme.
