The Parliament is setting a bad example by not discussing the matter, he said on Thursday (Jul 11).
Previously on Sunday (Jul 7), the former minister submitted a notice to the parliament for allowing a discussion on the gas price hike.
He expressed disappointment, saying that with the budget session ending on Thursday, neither his notice was discussed, nor was he informed whether it has been accepted.
“There is a thing called rules of procedure and I have every right to know about this. Although our lawmaker Moin Uddin Khan Badal told me that I was insisting on this in vain,” he said.
Requesting comments from Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Mia who was conducting the session, he said, “If the matter is not discussed, the Parliament will be poorer.”
In reply Mia said that the matter was in the Speaker’s consideration and he will be informed of the notice accordingly.
Menon submitted the notice with the consent of the Awami League’s 14-party-allies Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) lawmaker Hasanul Haq Inu, Awami League lawmaker Moin Uddin Khan Badal, Workers Party lawmakers--Fazle Hossain Badsha, Mustafa Lutfullah and Lutfun Nesa Khan.
