Over 8,000 Bangladeshis in jails abroad: FM

He placed the statistics on Thursday (Jul 11) in response to a question from a lawmaker during the day’s Parliamentary session.
He said that amongst them, 2,112, the highest number of prisoners are in India.
Moreover, there are 1,156 prisoners in Abu Dhabi, 768 in Saudi Arabia, 693 in Bahrain, 572 in Malaysia, 442 in Oman, 316 in Kuwait and 327 in Turkey he added.
“It is the foreign ministry’s topmost priority to bring back the Bangladeshis in foreign prisons,” he said.
The minister added that the ministry was working with the embassies to resolve the issue.
