Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered a survey to be carried out on all the bridges and culverts on the roads and railways.
Her order came during an Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) meeting on Tuesday (Jun 25), reports BSS.
She said that the bridges that are in bad condition should be renovated before the next monsoon.
Planning Minister MA Mannan told the media that she gave the order following the railway accident where five carriages of a Dhaka bound train from Sylhet derailed, killing at least four people and injuring over a hundred.
The Dhaka-bound intercity train from Sylhet, Upaban Express derailed and fell off a bridge at Baramchal in Moulvibazar’s Kulaura upazila late on Sunday (Jun 29) night.
