The government will from now on honour four people with the International Mother Language Institute Award every two years for their contribution to the Mother Language.
The Cabinet on Monday (Jun 24) approved the International Mother Language Institute Award guideline-2019 which provisions that two people will be awarded in the national and international category.
“The International Mother Language Institute Award will be given every two years on the occasion of Feb 21,” Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told the media on Monday.
“The award will be Tk 400,000 nationally and $ 5,000 internationally,” he added.
Alam said that two committees- one led by the education minister and another by the International Mother Language Institute will be working separately to determine the winners.
