Foreign Minister AK Abdul MomenThe United Nations has held back a lot of information and are also responsible for the Rohingya crisis, said Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.
His remarks came on Thursday (Jun 20) at the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies during a program celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Geneva Convention.
“This tragedy didn’t happen overnight. The Rohingyas were facing prejudice and animosity for a long time but the UN didn’t pay heed,” he said.
He added that the UN believes in resolving conflict in a humanitarian way but “hasn’t acted accordingly.”
The minister said that the UN’s stand where necessary is a “weak” one.
Momen said that the laws of the Geneva Convention, as well as the human rights of the innocent people in Myanmar, were being violated.
