Representational imageFour search wells will be drilled in the shallow block of the Bay of Bengal by March 2021 aiming to explore more mineral resources, says State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid.
“Searching activities are underway in four deep and shallow blocks of the Bay of Bengal under the production sharing contracts (PSCs) signed between the government and five international oil companies after settlement of maritime disputes with India and Myanmar,” state news agency BSS quoted him saying at parliament on Wednesday (Jun 19)
Responding to a query ruling MP M Abdul Latif, Nasrul said seismic surveys were conducted in these blocks of the Bay to find out mineral resources after 2014.
He said state-run Petrobangla has floated a ‘Notice of Award’ for international bidders to conduct a 2D Non-Exclusive Multi-Client Seismic Survey in the country’s maritime area.
