Bangabandhu’s statue in Turkey soon

Bangladeshi Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque and Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey Sedat Önal after a foreign office consultation on Monday (May 22).A statue of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will soon be placed at the head of a boulevard named after him in Ankara.
The countries came to the understanding during a foreign office consultation led by the respective foreign secretaries Monday (May 22).
Bangladeshi Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque and Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey Sedat Önal led their respective delegations in the political consultations.
The Bangladeshi envoy to Turkey M Allama Siddiki and representatives of relevant ministries and officials from the Bangladesh mission in Ankara took part at the meeting.
The Turkish side will also place a bust of Ataturk, the founder and first president of the Republic of Turkey in Dhaka, said a media statement by the Bangladeshi mission in Turkey on Wednesday (May 22).
The delegates of the two countries discussed in detail ways to enhance economic transactions between Dhaka and Ankara.
The upcoming Joint Economic Commission meeting scheduled in Ankara in November 2019 came up during the discussion in light of the interest of the two sides to ensure greater volume of economic transaction.
The foreign secretary thanked the Turkish government for their moral and material support to the displaced Rohingyas and their cooperation towards the Rohingyas received special attention in the talks.
The two countries agreed to continue cooperation in the international global forums to pave the way for early and safe return of the Rohingyas.
