Advance train ticket sale begins

Thousands thronged the Kamalapur Railway Station on Saturday, the second day of advance ticket sales, with many queuing up at the counters since last night.Bangladesh Railway has started selling advance train tickets for holiday makers of Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday (May 22).

The homebound passengers for the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration will be able to procure their advance tickets for the train services between 9 am and 4 pm every day and it will continue till May 26.

The railway authority initiated selling tickets in five different points for May 31. Home bound commuters thronged to buy tickets from 23 counters of Kamalapur Railway Station.

Kamalapur Railway Station Manager Sitangshu Chakrabarty said: “To any chaotic and subversive activities, a monitoring team with railway police along with regular Police and Ansar personnel deployed in all five points.”

He said: “No untoward situation has been seen so far.”

The sale of advance tickets will continue till May 26 to reduce hassle-free Eid journey for holidaymakers. A passenger can buy maximum 4 tickets by a NID.

Passengers may purchase return tickets for June 7 on May 29, for June 8 on May 30, for June 9 on May 31, for June 10 on June 1, and for June 11 on June 2.

On the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr, Bangladesh Railway (BR) will operate eight pairs of special trains on different routes.
