Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader went to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Ganobhaban residence straight from the airport upon his arrival from Singapore.
The road transport and bridges minister met with the prime minister after iftar on Wednesday (May 15), Awami League Deputy Office Secretary and the PM’s Special Assistant Biplob Barua told Bangla Tribune.
The PM inquired about his health and advised him to take ample rest for his recovery.
Quader returned to the country two months after suffering from a cardiac arrest in March.
He was initially admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital on Mar 2 following breathing complications.
He was flown to Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital the next day where his tests revealed three coronary blockages.
Apart from his heart condition and diabetes, the 67-year-old was also suffering from complicated breathing condition (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease).
After his health improved under treatment, Quader underwent a bypass surgery on Mar 20.
Six days later, he was transferred from the Intensive Care Unit to a cabin in the hospital.
Despite being discharged from the hospital after a month of treatment, Quader had remained in Singapore for a few more days to receive follow-up treatment on the advice of doctors.
