Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina speaking at parliament, Apr 24, 2019. FOCUS BANGLAPrime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged citizens to remain vigilant and instantly report to law enforcers over any suspicious activities.
Her call came on Wednesday (Apr 24), two days after coordinated blasts by suspected Islamists militants left more than 350 people killed in Sri Lanka.
“I would urge the people to remain alert and report any abnormal activity to law enforcers,” she told the Parliament.
Calling the people to refrain from terror and militant activities, Hasina said she has “no word” to condemn devastating series of bomb blasts in Sri Lanka.
The prime minister said some 40 children, including Zayan Chowdhury, a grandson of her cousin and Awami League presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, were killed in the terror attacks.
“I don’t know what they (terrorists) want to accomplish through the killing innocent peoples,” she said, before adding that terrorism and militancy can never bring welfare for the mankind.
Zayan’s father Moshiul Haque Chowdhury Prince has been injured in the attack and now undergoing treatment at a Sri Lankan hospital.
Prince was not informed of his son’s death yet, said Hasina.
Referring to the killing of a Feni madrasha student Nusrat Jahan Rafi after setting her on fire by pouring kerosin, she said, “Such inhuman acts truly bring no welfare for the mankind.”
