Nusrat murder: HC to hear plea seeking judicial probe Tuesday

Nusrat Jahan RafiThe High Court has fixed Tuesday (Apr 23) for hearing the writ, seeking directives to form a judicial probe into Nusrat Jahan Rafi's murder.
The High Court bench of Justices FRM Nazmul Ahasan and KM Kamrul Kader fixed the date on Sunday (Apr 21) following a writ petition filed in this regard.
Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Eunus Ali Akond filed the writ with the High Court on Apr 17.
The secretary of Home Ministry, secretary of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, inspector general of police, superintendent of Feni police, and officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonagazi police station have been made respondents to the writ.
The writ also sought the help of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to investigate the murder.
On Apr 6, madrasa student and Alim examinee Nusrat Jahan Rafi was set ablaze on the roof of the madrasa by alleged supporters of the madrasa's Principal Sirajuddaula after she refused to withdraw a case she had filed against him on March 27 for sexual harassment.
The 18-year-old, with 80 percent burns on her body, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Apr 10 after battling death for five days.
Following her death, a total of 18 people were arrested including local ruling party leaders. Seven of the arrestees have given confessional statements before the court so far.
