Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen is seen in this undated photo obtained from social media. FACEBOOKDhaka might sign seven agreements with Brunei during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit there, said Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen.
“Seven agreements regarding fuel and agricultural aid, visa waivers for diplomatic and official passport holders might be signed,” he told the media on Thursday (Apr 18).
In addition to the possible signing of memorandums of understandings, Brunei will also be called on to make investments in Bangladesh, he said.
“We are expecting a productive visit. Brunei is interested in trading liquid fuel with us and invest in the halal food sector,” he added.
He said that he will be accompanying the PM with a few other ministers and a delegation of businessmen.
The minister said they will discuss the Rohingya issue with Brunei, a member state of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
“We have proposed to ASEAN to establish a safe zone for the Rohingyas in Rakhine or establish a new region for them under a new name so that they can feel safe enough to return,” he said.
