Non-MPO teacher’s protests continues

Around 7,000 teachers and employees under the banner of Non-MPO Educational Institutions Teachers and Employees` Federation are pressing their demands for MPO enlistment since Wednesday (Mar 20).Non-Monthly Pay Order (MPO) teachers and employees are continuing their protest to press their demands for MPO enlistment.

They took position in front of the National Press Club since Friday (Mar 22) morning after police blocked their march towards the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) early on Thursday (Mar 21).

“We will continue our protests until our demands are met. We hope that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will give us the opportunity to meet with her,” said Golam Mahmudunnabi Dollar, president of Non-MPO Educational Institutions Teachers and Employees’ Federation.

Regarding the protests, Shahbag police Inspector Bashar told Bangla Tribune, “We requested them to leave the streets several times after they took position there since yesterday.”

“Their protests have been largely peaceful and no violence has been reported yet,” added Bashar.
