Students agitating again for safe roads

Students have started street agitation, demanding safe roads after the death of a university student on Tuesday (Mar 19).
On Wednesday (Mar 20), students boycotted classes and blockaded roads. In Farmgate, students of Government Science College blocked the main road and began their agitation programme.
Over the killing of Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury, a student of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), students have sent out a call asking all to boycott classes and block roads.
Tejgaon thana’s acting OC Mazharul Islam said, “Students are carrying out a peaceful campaign and the police will ensure that no untoward incident takes place.”
On Tuesday (Mar 19) morning, Abrar Ahmed was run over by a bus belonging to Supravat Paribahan near the Jamuna Future Park in Kuril.
After the accident, students came out, demanding safe roads; they blockaded the roads till afternoon and carried out agitation.
The eight point demand includes death penalty for the driver whose rash driving results in the death of anyone.
Students also underlined that while the road permit of Jabale Nur, the transport company involved in a previous accident, was reportedly cancelled, the buses are still seen to plying on the roads.
We do not want to see buses of Supravat and Jabale Nur, students said emphatically.
