Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance Secretary General Govinda Chandra Pramanik speaking at a media call at the National Press Club on Friday (Mar 15).The Hindu community is no longer safe in the country with ongoing attacks on them, said Bangladesh National Hindu Grand Alliance Secretary General Govinda Chandra Pramanik.
“Only a few days ago the houses of human rights activists Priyabala Biswas and Pritilata Biswas were set on fire,” he said on Friday (Mar 15) during a media call at the National Press Club.
“Incidents of attacks, robbery, arson, extortion and threats to leave the country are still ongoing. There is no space for safe living in the country anymore,” he added.
Pramanik said that since the perpetrators are involved with the ruling parties, they get away with it.
On the law minister’s pledge to form a minority commission, he said, “The minority commission won’t serve the Hindu community in any way.”
He added that the minority communities have been demanding reserved seats in the Parliament and separate elections but the government has not taken any heed.
