Law Minister Anisul Huq addresses an event in Dhaka on Saturday (Feb 23).Referring to the Jatiya Oikya Front’s public hearing over the alleged irregularities during the national election, Law Minister Anisul Huq claimed the opposition alliance was plotting against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“They [Oikya Front] can do one thing only which is ‘hatching conspiracy’. They are planning a similar conspiracy against PM Hasina just like the one that led to Bangabandhu’s assassination,” he said on Saturday (Feb 23) while addressing an event.
In a clear reference to Oikya Front leader Dr Kamal Hossain, Huq said, “Those who once used to be close to Bangabandhu are now plotting against Sheikh Hasina.”
It’s imperative to form a panel to identify those who pulled the strings behind the 1975 carnage.
“We will form a commission so the history can be written properly for the future generation,” he said.
BNP chief Khaleda Zia resorted to violence after the 2014 general elections, Huq said before adding, “And that’s the reason behind BNP’s debacle in 2018; the people has given them the snub.”
The Oikya Front’s public hearing has failed to evoke any response from the people, the minister said. “Back in 1996, Sheikh Hasina held a public hearing at Suhrawardy Udyan which was attended by thousands,” he said.
