A home ministry investigation committee visited the Chawkbazar accident spot at 11am on Friday (Feb 22) morning and will give a report within the next seven days.

After inspection, additional secretary of the home ministry, Pradip Ranjan Chakravarty, said, “We visited the stricken area and have talked to the locals.”

Our primary task is to find out the cause of the fire and then, we shall make recommendations to avert such calamity in the future, he commented.

Member of the investigation committee, Ibrahim Khan, DC of Lalbag zone, said, “Police have lodged a case and they will suggest taking legal action against those who are found to be culpable in the investigation.”

From Friday morning, the burnt cars plus other debris are being removed from the road by city-corporation.
