Dhaka Medical College Hospital has started handing over the bodies of the Chawkbazar fire victims.Dhaka Medical College Hospital has started to hand over the dead bodies of the Chawkbazar fire victims that have been identified from morgue.
The District Administration started handing over the bodies from Thursday (Feb 21) at 3 pm.
So far 37 bodies have been identified, confirmed Dhaka Additional Division Commissioner Selim Reza.
According to fire service officials, 70 body bags were sent to the morgue at DMCH but doctors there counted 67 bodies, after piecing together body parts.
“Some of the bags contained only parts. Considering that, the total number of dead maybe 67,” said Prof Shohel Mahmood, head of Forensic Medicine at the hospital.
The families of the deceased have each been given Tk 20,000 for the funeral arrangements.
