Intense cold wave predicted in late January

According to the one-month outlook report, Bangladesh may experience two or three mild to moderate cold waves near the end of January and two of them might turn in to intense cold waves.The Met office predicts an intense cold wave to sweep through Bangladesh later this month.
It said a moderate cold wave is sweeping over the regions of Panchagarh and Kurigram and mild one over the regions of Moulovibazar, Rajshahi, Dinajpur, Nilphamari & Chuadanga, which may continue.
The mercury has already started to dip with the lowest temperature in a large portion of the falling below 10 degrees Celsius.
In the past seven days, capital Dhaka’s lowest temperature has fallen by 10 degrees. On Jan 7, it was recorded at 23.1 degrees which slumped to 13.8 degrees on Monday (Jan 14).
Likewise, temperature in Khulna, Barishal and Rangpur divisions dropped in the past week. However, that’s not the case for Chattogram, Sylhet and Mymensingh, where it fell slightly.
The lowest temperature on Monday was recorded in the northern district Panchagarh’s Tentulia at 5.1 degrees.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s forecast for the next 24 hours from Monday evening said weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over with light to moderate fog at places over the country during midnight to morning.
It said the light and moderate cold wave sweeping over parts of the country is likely to continue.
Night temperature may fall slightly while day temperature may remain nearly unchanged.
