FOCUS BANGLAThe polls schedule for women reserved seats in 11th Parliament will be announced on Feb 17, says Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed.
“Letters to the winning parties in 11th Parliamentary Election will be sent today (Monday),” he said on Monday (Jan 14).
Briefing at the EC office in the city’s Agargaon, “Parties will be asked to let the EC know whether they would join in the polls alone or with allies.
“Independent lawmakers will be sent letters too.”
“The parties will inform the EC by Jan 30 with voter list for the reserved seats to be prepared by Feb 12,” Ahmed said.
According to the results of the 11th Parliamentary Election, 43 seats are reserved for Awami League while four for Jatiya Party, one for Jatiya Oikya Front and two for independent and others.
The AL-led Grand Alliance secured 288 seats – the AL 257, the JP 22 and others 9 -- in the Dec 30 election. The BNP-led Oikya Front got eight seats.
