Law Minister Anisul Huq addresses the inauguration ceremony of the 38th foundation course for Assistant Judges at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) in Dhaka on Sunday (Jan 13).The government has initiated the process to bring back acting BNP chief Tarique Rahman, convicted of the Aug 21 grenade attack and money laundering, from the UK.
“The government is very much active to bring back fugitive convicts and execute verdicts against them. We will take initiatives to put the cases of crimes against humanity on Appellate Division cause list,” Law Minister Anisul Huq said on Sunday (Jan 13).
His remarks came while speaking to the media after inaugurating the 38th foundation course for Assistant Judges at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) in Dhaka, reports BSS.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the minister urged the judges to inspire justice seekers to Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), adding, “They will take it seriously if you can make them to understand.
“The developed countries always advice people for ADR and that’s why ninety percent of cases are resolved out of the courtroom, lessening the pressure on judiciary.”
The minister said the role of the judges is most important in establishing rule of law in the country.
“The contribution of quality judiciary for rule of law, financial development, strengthening democracy and poverty eradication is undeniable. So, the government is providing all kinds of cooperation to judiciary so that it can present people a quality service,” added Huq.
