The election to Gaibandha-3 (Palashbari-Sadullapur) constituency will be held on Jan 27, says Election Commission
It has also fixed Jan 2 the last day to submit nomination forms.
EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed told the media that the EC decided to reschedule the election to the Gaibandha-3 seat due to the death of a candidate.
The decision came at an EC’s meeting on Sunday (Dec 23).
The EC postponed the election to the constituency after the BNP-led 20-party Alliance candidate, Dr TIM Fazle Rabbi died at a Dhaka hospital on Dec 20.
Born in Talukjamira village in Palashbari Upazila, Fazle Rabbi had been elected from Jatiya Party from Gaibandha-3 constituency six times in 1986, 1988, 1991, 1996, 2001 and 2008.
