The Election Commission has declared the candidature of BNP nominee Afroza Abbas valid for the Dhaka-9 constituency.
It, however, rejected the candidature of BNP leader Amanullah Aman, who serves as the party chief’s adviser, for the Dhaka-2 seat.
The development came after the EC held its hearing on appeals on Saturday (Dec 8).
On Dec 2, returning officer rejected the nomination papers of Afroza, wife of BNP leader Mirza Abbas, because of her status as a loan defaulter.
Aman nomination paper was rejected as he faces arrest in a 2017 case.
The EC held hearings on 543 petitions filed over rejection and acceptance of nomination papers over three days from Thursday.
