Fine aspirants for not removing campaign materials: ECThe Election Commission has ordered to fine prospective candidates, who have not removed campaign materials aimed at the general election.
It also ordered local government authorities to pull down posters, banners and any other type of materials displayed by aspirants across the country, EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed told the media on Monday (Nov 19).
The deadline for removing campaign apparatuses ended on Sunday (Nov 18) in line with a previous directive by the Commission.

Secretary Ahmed, however, said the official order would be issued later in the day.
Explaining the details, the EC secretary said, “(Legal) action starts from today against the candidates, who are yet to remove campaign materials.
“Besides, campaign materials will be removed in coordination with municipalities, and district, Upazila and union councils.
“Authorities will be instructed slap aspirant with fine... However their candidacy won’t be scrapped,” Ahmed said.
