‘Saudi king for continuation of Hasina administration’

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina meets with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at Royal Palace in Riyadh on Wednesday (Oct 17). PIDAppreciating Bangladesh’s development under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Saudi Kin Salman bin Abdulaziz wished the continuation of the present administration.
The remarks came Wednesday when Hasina had an audience with him, according to Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque.
“If the continuity of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is maintained, the relations between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh will be further improved and development will be made on all sides,” state news agency BSS quoted the top Bangladesh diplomat saying.
Haque briefed the media after the meeting in Riyadh.
The foreign secretary said the Saudi King uttered thrice maintaining the continuity of the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, says the BSS report.
When the Prime Minister reached the Royal Palace, the King himself came out to its gate to receive her, UNB quoted Haque saying.
“The King told the Prime Minister that it (Royal Palace) is your house and you’re always welcome here,” the foreign secretary said, adding that there was elaborate banquet and the King was seen very cordial while speaking to the prime minister over the lunch.
According to Foreign Secretary Haque, King Salman told Hasina that the ties between the two countries have improved a lot and that there are scopes to further strengthen the collaboration in the fields of economy, culture and defence and security.
Hasina thanked the Saudi king for looking after the huge number of Bangladeshis working in Saudi Arabia, he added.
She invited King Salman to visit Bangladesh, said the foreign secretary before adding that the invitation was accepted.
