New building with state of the art facilities for foreign ministry

The government has taken an initiative to construct a modern multi- storied building within the premises of the ministry of foreign affairs.
Specialists says that the main building dated from the colonial period while the other existing structures are not earthquake prone.
Also, there is a crisis of rooms and the conference hall is not of international standard.
According to Bangladesh National Building Code, the total expenditure of an earthquake tolerant building will be Tk. 63 crore 56 lakh, to be provided entirely by the government.
The building will be constructed over 3.24 acre land in Segunbagicha.
It’s believed that with modern facilities, the new building will bolster the image of Bangladesh.
Planning ministry sources say that the ministry of foreign affairs and the ministry of works will implement the project. Under this project, an eight storied building will be constructed initially followed by a 20 storied energy efficient greed building.
The design of the 20 storied building has already been approved.
