Met office forecasts heavy rainfall

FILE PHOTOBangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions for Friday.
“Due to cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ over coastal Odisha, India, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions during the next 24 hrs commencing from 3 pm Thursday,” said a met office bulletin.
According to latest weather bulletin issued by the met office Thursday, the cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ moved slightly northwestwards over coastal Odisha and adjoining area of India. It is likely to move north northwestwards further inland and weaken gradually.
Under the influence of the severe cyclonic storm, steep pressure gradient persists over the North Bay, a deep convection is taking place over the North Bay and coastal areas of Bangladesh.
Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of the country.
Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisting local cautionary signal number three.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.
