A total of 9,498 educational institutions have filed applications to get included in the government’s monthly pay order (MPO) scheme.
Eligible schools and colleges will get the facility after the screening process, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said on Wednesday after meeting with delegations from 39 forums of educational institutions.
When asked about the number of new institutions that the ministry is aiming to get under MPO coverage, He said, “That depends on the funds disbursed. We are trying to get more funds for MPO inclusion.”
Nahid also said that the non-government teachers were assured that their logical demands will be met which have been forwarded to the Finance Ministry.
The non-government teachers made a number of demands including five-percent salary increment, festival bonus and increment.
Application from Non-government schools and colleges were invited from Aug 5-20.
