Election Commission of BangladeshThe Election Commission (EC) wants to use one Electric Voting Machine (EVM) for one centre each of the 300 seats in the upcoming national elections.
In this regard, orders have been given to the commission officials. It’s believed that EC secretary, Helaluddin Ahmed, gave such an order at an EVM fair related programme held in the city.
In that event he also mentioned that EVMs will be used at all upazila and city corporation elections in the future.
To make the EVM popular, the EC will hold an EVM fair in the first week of October.
But political parties won’t be invited to that fair.
To make the fairs successful, ward councillors have been asked to send representatives.
“The world is gradually accepting new technology and, therefore, we also need to adopt new methods in our electoral system,” said Helaluddin Ahmed.
