Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood. FILE PHOTOAmid the government’s move to tighten law enforcement’s bid to arrest civil servants, Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood has warned the corrupt and dishonest officials would not be spared.
Mahmood remarks came a week after the Cabinet finalised the draft of the ‘Public Employment Act 2018’ on Aug 20 incorporating a provision that will no longer allow the arrest of government employees for graft without prior clearance.
“There is no reason to be overwhelmed by dishonest and corrupt officials as no law will protect the corruption. Sometimes execution of law is relaxed which is similar to the strategy of war but it will come as strict as it should be in time,” said ACC chief to the media at it’s Segunbagicha office in the capital on Monday.
“The law is yet to be passed as it is in premature state. The act will be assessed in some certain steps before enacted. ACC believes that no law will be passed to protect the corrupt officials rather save the honest one,” Mahmood added.
