He was smoking continuously inside the cockpit, it also said.
However, a member of the six-member team which joined the investigation in the crash questioned about the remark published on the newspaper.
He said, "Final probe has not been wrapped up yet; how they can claim the pilot was smoking inside."
Pilot Abid Sultan.A joint investigation committee comprised of Bangladesh, Nepal, Bombardier and other countries and international agencies started decoding the black box of the ill-fated US-Bangla flight on Apr 23.
Aircraft Accident Investigation Group of Bangladesh (AAIG-BD) Chief Captain Salah Uddin M Rahmatullah led the Bangladeshi team in the committee.
"It is too early to make any comment despite the probe has advanced significantly. We need some more time to file final report", said Rahmatullah.
He also said that the report will be placed to the international body after having the approval of Nepalese aviation ministry.
The international aviation authorities will take 60 days to review the report before being finalized, the captain added.
