Road Safety Protests: 42 students granted bail

CourtCourts in Dhaka have granted bail to 42 students, arrested on charges of violence and attack on police during the student protest for safer roads.
Bails of 25 students were earlier reported until late afternoon on Sunday. Another 17 students were granted bail later in the day, according to court officials.
The court decisions came 12 days after they were arrested in several cases filed with nine police stations in capital Dhaka.
The six students bailed in cases with the Bhatara Police are— Sakhawat Hossain Nijhum, Shihab Shahriar, Azizul Karim Antor, Mashhad Murtaza Ahad, Mehedi Hasan and Faiz Ahmed.
Twelve students — Nur Mohammad, Azizul Haque, Md Hasan, Doan Ahmad, Toriqul Islam, Reza Rifat Akhlaak, AHM Khaled Reza, Rashedul Islam, Mushfiqur Rahman, Iftekhar Ahmed and Zahidul Haque — got bail in cases with Badda Police.
Nine have been bailed in cases with Dhanmondi Police— Sohad Khan, Masrikul Islam, Tomal Samad, Mahmudur Rahman, Omar Siam, Mahbubur Rahman, Iqbal Hossain, Naimur Rahman and Minhajul Islam.
Three each arrested in cases started by police stations in Uttara West, Kotwali, New Market and Ramna have been also granted bail. They are— Mahbub Khan Robin, Tofail, Ashik, Mehedi, Jahidul, Dulal, Azizur, Amin, Nur Alam, Armanul Haque, Khairul Alam Dipu and Daiyan Nafiz Prodhan.
Two arrested by Shahbagh police— Abu Bakr Siddique and Riajul Haque Ulu Hazi and another by Paltan police — Saiful Wadud have been granted bail.
Among the 22 arrested on Aug 7 by police in Badda and Bhatara, 18 were granted bail while 4 others are still behind bars. A few other students are reportedly being detained at different police stations in the capital.
