Rush of Eid holidaymakers at Kamalapur Railway Station.Train services from the central railway station in Dhaka are being delayed as the rush of Eid holidaymakers began.
At 10am on Sunday, a Chilahati-bound Neel Sagar Express was found at the Kamalapur Railway Station, which was supposed to depart at 8am. It finally left the station at 11am.
Passengers started to rush in as soon as the train reached Dhaka. It became packed to the rafters within a few minutes. Many couldn’t manage to have a seat despite purchasing ticket while others couldn’t even reach the designated compartments.
Rush of Eid holidaymakers at Kamalapur Railway Station.Another Inter-city train Dhumketu Express was delayed by an hour on Sunday that was scheduled to start for Rajshahi at 6am.
The Khulna-bound Sundarban Express was delayed by more than two. The Rangpur Express couldn’t even arrive until 11am which was scheduled to reach Dhaka at 9am.
It was the same for an Eid special service for Lalmonirhat. Dinajpur-bound Ekota express arrived an hour late at 11am and the station authorities couldn’t give a specific time for its departure. Hundreds of passengers were seen waiting at the station.

“We are trying our best to operate services on schedule”, he added.
