Anwar Choudhury.Bangladesh-born British diplomat Anwar Choudhury has been withdrawn from his governorship in the Cayman Islands after a series of embarrassing events.
On Thursday (Sept 20), the Cayman Islands governor office has officially issued the withdrawn letter for Mr Choudhury.
A government spokesman said he could return to diplomatic posts in London though Anwar Choudhury has been withdrawn from the post.
When contacted over the phone, Anwar Chowdhury found unreachable.
Earlier on Jun 15, Anwar Choudhury was recalled to the United Kingdom from his governorship in the Cayman Islands after a series of embarrassing events.
The 59-year-old governor has been accused of getting drunk, yelling at the staff, abusing his wife, and overall inappropriate behaviour unbecoming of a decent person, much less a diplomat.
Anwar is also accused of asking a maid to give him a shirtless massage, but no sexual advances have been reported, according to the Daily Mail.
Various sources in the UK and the Cayman Islands say he also asked the cleaning staff to babysit his daughter as well.
Furthermore, he is claimed to have had a shouting match with his elderly mother-in-law after getting drunk.
He was appointed as the governor in March and recalled on June 15.
The former governor of the Cayman Islands also served as the British high commissioner to Bangladesh in the past, where he was the target of a grenade attack.
