Acclaimed actor Jaya Ahsan just completed shooting for her role as the lover of Bangladeshi writer, thinker, novelist, poet, and intellectual, Ahmed Sofa, in Bangladesh’s first 3D film, Alatchakra.
She plays the role of Tayeba in the 1971 Liberation War feature film, based on Sofa’s renowned autobiographical novel also titled Alatchakra like the movie.
The project, directed by Habibur Rahman, is being produced by MISE En SCÈNE Productions, which got a Tk 6 million film grant from the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in fiscal year 2017-2018.
The film’s director Habibur said, “Jaya Ahsan completed the shoot for her entire role at one go, due to her busy schedule. The entire film is being shot in 3D in partnership with Skywork Studios in Mumbai, India, who are our camera equipment and gear partners.
“This is a government funded film and the funding is given in three installments. We have received the second installment, and were told to finish the film with it to receive the final installment. As this is the first 3D film in the country it needs a huge budget to maintain workflow and now it is a tremendous pressure on me to finance this project alone. We need a significant budget and time for 3D post-production. I cannot promise anything at this moment but I am trying my best to release Alatchakra by this December.”
Acclaimed Bangladeshi actor Ahmed Rubel will be seen alongside Jaya playing the lead character of Daniel (Ahmed Sofa). Mamunur Rashid, Azad Abul Kalam, Shilpi Sarker Apu, Nusrat Jahan Joiri, Syed Mosharrof, and many others will be seen in other roles. Bangladeshi cinematographer Mazharul Razu is shooting the project.
