Many films have been produced basing on Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s immortal love story Devdas, and many will be produced in future.
A telefilm is being produced this year basing on the great novel in the context of present time, under the banner of ‘Jalsaghar’.
Jakaria Showkhin, the director who turns ‘Devdas’ to ‘Jalsaghar’, said, “The plot of such a love story never fades away, it always reappears with new senses.”
“Although the new script has been written in the context of present time, the viewers, no doubt, will feel the same emotions found in the novel,” he added.
Apurbo, Mehjabin and Momo will star the telefilm where three main characters of the novel would be seen adopting new names.
The telefilm is scheduled to be aired at Banglavision during the upcoming Eid festival.
On the basis of the script, the director said that the novel largely prevented a happy ending to a true and tender love story. The protagonist Devdas, or Paban in Jalsaghar, never can make a successful relationship at the end.
Contacted, the actors of the telefilm also expressed excitement and joy over playing their challenging roles.
