Director Tanvir Hassan found dead in Dhaka

The 42-year-old was found hanging from a ceiling fan at the flat on Road No 4 at Sector 4 on Friday noon, police said citing the family.

“We recovered the body which the members of Tanvir’s family had already brought down before police reached the house,” Uttara (East) police Sub-Inspector Md Abdul Rahim told Bangla Tribune.

“Tanvir went to bed on Thursday night and was spotted hanging at 10.30am on Friday by the help when she went to the room to clean it up,” added Rahim citing the family.

“His body has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy to determine the cause of death,” Uttara (East) police OC Nur-e-Alam Siddique told Bangla Tribune.

“We are suspecting that it’s a suicide,” he added.

A Jahangirnagar University post graduate in drama and dramatics, he worked as director and became known for making TV commercials in a short period.

Tanvir was the member of Dhaka Little Theater and he later joined the Natyakendra theater group.

He was a painter and a fashion designer. Besides acting, he also directed some short films.
