A suspected drug dealer was killed in a so-called shootout with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Purbakumarbhog in Louhajang Upazila early Friday.
The victim was identified as Mokbul Hossain, 36, who was named in 12 different cases.
Tipped off on drug dealing, a RAB team raided the area around 3:45am, said ASP Mahitul Islam of RAB-11, CPC-1.
Sensing presence of the elite force, the criminals opened fire on them, prompting the RAB members to fire back in self-defence, he added.

RAB members found Mokbul’s body after a skirmish and couple ‘drug traders’ managed to flee.
Mokbul was declared dead by the doctors after being taken to the local government hospital.
The lawmen recovered one pistol, two bullets, one magazine, 500 pieces of Yaba pills, Tk 4,600 and two mobile phone sets from the spot.
