Two persons were reportedly killed over a feud in Dinajpur.
The victims were identified as Suruj Mia, 45, and Robiul Islam, 26, hailed from Jagdal Dangapara in Birganj.
Local people and police said that Robiul hacked Suruj and his three-year-old son in connection with a past feud while on their return after morning prayer on Thursday. Suruj died on the spot.
They blocked Thakurgaon-Dinajpur highway protesting the killing since 6am. Later, the furious mob found the suspect Robiul and burned him to death.
Police dispatched to the area and managed to resume the transport movement around 10am.
Locals claimed that Robiul was a ‘goon’ who hacked to death one of Suruj’s relatives two months ago.
Birganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tofazzal Hossain said, “We will take necessary step after completing the investigation.”
Superintendent of Police Hamidul Alam said that a case is being filed over the matter.
The situation is under control, he added.
